Monomict Definition

A monomict lake is a lake that receives its only significant supply of water from precipitation, which falls directly into the lake, rather than from a river or stream, and usually has no outlet. It does not naturally lose water through overflow, and its water level is dependent on the annual cycle of precipitation and evaporation.
