Quimbaya Definition

Quimbaya refers to a group of people of the pre-Columbian Tairona culture who lived in the Central Cordillera of the Colombian Andes from around 500 CE to the time of the Spanish conquest in the 16th century. They were known for their goldwork and intricate jewelry, which represented animals, humans, and deities. The Quimbaya culture is also known for their agricultural techniques and settlement patterns that adapted to the mountainous terrain.
